Sometimes when I click on a thread I accidentaly touch the OP's name. This takes me to their profile page. What bugs me is that I don't want to feel like I'm prying or something. Is this a weird fear?

profiles are sorta like faces, everybody has one. if you don't mind looking at a person's face, then feel free to look at their profile... as long as you are already reading their personal thoughts and feelings~ it's not private.

LOL I hit people's names by mistake quite a bit. I don't know if they can see my involuntary visit me being invisible. Never thought about it.

I'm thinking that people don't put stuff on their profiles that they don't want others to know about. In fact the purpose of a profile is to allow people to get to know you to an extent determined by the user, so.... just sayin'

People put what they want. Adds transparency for me. Honestly, i keep my visitor views closed. It's ok.

I appreciate your wish not to pry.

The way I view it is, as long as someone has put something (text, image, anything) on a profile page, it means they are okay with people viewing that. If they don't want something to be public information, they can edit or delete. I don't feel badly if people view my profile. So I don't feel guilty for looking at others', either.

If you don't mind me asking, what does it mean to keep visitor views closed? Do you still know who viewed your profile but others don't see it, or do you no longer see the views either? How did you do it? I didn't know about such a feature.

the little boxes that show Member Groups and Visitors have peaky arrows on the top right corner, that shut them, if you don't like them messing up your page, or if you have distraction issues~ i don't know if anyone else can see them if they are closed, but you don't.

I've done this too. If the member has a visitor message board set up I will just say a polite hello. To me, my profile is kind of like my home here and I extend that view to others whether they share that view or not. If our profiles are sort of like like our faces here at PC then I'd feel I was being by rude looking at someone's face and not saying hello. Just my way of looking at it.

Thanks for these replies. It just struck me as funny when I noticed that visitor page on my own profile. Then of course my warped response is why would someone look? Did I post something stupid?

I'm going to close my visitor box so I don't need to go there.
