Is is apparently inappropriate to post video links here: Books, Movies, Music and TV Talk - Forums at Psych Central

If that is the case, why is there not a sticky or other notification to alert members of this ban?

Because it applies to the entire community, not just that one forum. Videos all go into one forum:

Videos, Lyrics and Podcasts - Forums at Psych Central

I still request a sticky. Many are not aware of what you just pointed out.
Thanks for this!

Does the community include Social Groups? Or just forums?

There are many MUSIC Social Groups, and understandably people post links to music videos in them.

I've been on here almost 6 years and didn't know this. But I almost never post links to anything, video or otherwise. Not too savvy on finding good ones, and my time is too limited online to search for them anyway.

I agree with you, glok. I had no idea until 3 wks. after joining PC. I still wouldn't know if it weren't for a mod sending me a PM.

It was a little embarrassing because a lot of people on the books and movie forum knew I should be posting somewhere else but didn't send me a PM. I must have posted 20 or more links to videos.

Glad you brought this up.

We obviously have no way of ensuring people read everything we post, so no matter how many places we post this note or how often, most people will still not know. It's not a big deal if your post a video outside the video forum; we just prefer they are in one place.

Social group leaders are welcomed to set whatever rule they prefer on this issue.

Thank you for the information, DocJohn.

I will note, if you decide to post a thread, "Prefix" appears before "Title." Clicking, "Prefix" opens a drop-down menu with the following options: (no prefix), Books, Movies, Music, TV, and other.

Thanks for bringing this up, Glok. I've been posting links to YouTube videos all over the place since I've been here. No one has said anything. I've read the rules. But I can't keep all of them in my head all of the time. (Hey... I'm OLD!) I need reminders. To quote The Animals: "I'm just a soul whose intentions are good. Oh lord, please don't let me be misunderstood."

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
