I've been here a while, and I'm only really just now able to master the "Ignore" feature. Do you think it would be possible to simplify this?
I am mostly asking for the safety and protection of new members, and people who are feeling vulnerable to coarse and insensitive remarks. NO ONE here needs to be exposed to things they find disturbing. It should be made very easy to Ignore a member, just like a "Hug", or a "Thanks" (without leaving your name in a small window, of course.). And for everyone else out there (---who are not Moderators, Administrators, or veteran members, as they obviously understand what is called-for, here---) please remember, a little courtesy and thoughtfulness go a looong way. Thanks for reading, and perhaps considering. |

I say its not that hard because when I think about all that it took for someone to find this website and then register and then all the clicking you do to read the threads to begin with...well that tells me that everyone who is a member here is able to do the process that I put in the above paragraph. Im also glad that it is a few more steps then just clicking on a button with thanks, and reply... on another website I cant tell you how many times I have meant to click hugs and accidentally put that person on that sites ignore feature. Another site Im on has a fast link under the persons name called "ban" (the equivalent of Psych central's ignore) and I cant count how many times I have accidentally "banned" someone when I wanted to send them a pm. I like the ignore feature where it is because I have to actually think about what I am doing, that person doesnt get ignored just on a whim of accidental clicking. Thanks for the thought and suggestion MuseumGhost.
I don't think that our process to ignore a member is really difficult. The easiest way to do it is to click on the users name and and go to their profile, click on "User Lists" and choose "Ignore Member". That will put the member on your ignore list. Here are some other threads in which this method and others are discussed. http://forums.psychcentral.com/commu...ml#post2053848 http://forums.psychcentral.com/commu...ml#post2335240 http://forums.psychcentral.com/commu...ml#post2495235 At this time I will be closing this thread. |
