Technically, your post (above) and this reply of mine are "posts". Threads are different. But the 5 post requirement means 5 posts, or 5 new threads, must be approved by a moderator before you can access chat.

when you see person in chat who has no posts, they are probably from our 'sister' site Neuro Forums, which does not have a chat of it's own.

That's no longer the case, as they no longer share our chat rooms (this change occurred when we opened the new chat rooms).
