When I take pictures off the Internet and send them to friends, the size has always been uniformly the same in spite of the original size. As of two days ago the size of the posted pictures has become smaller. Could someone tell me how to restore it to what it was previously? TIA.

That is interesting.

Are they all from the same site (in which case linking might be eating their server space and they automatically reduced pic size)...or from your computer (having been downloaded in the larger size?) If you are uploading them from the computer, did you "resize" them accidentally? OR are you saying the pictures already uploaded or linked WERE larger and now are smaller (as I first thought you said)?

Did the program you're using recently update and perhaps change the size?

I'm thinking...

Neither of those things should happen ordinarily. When an image is uploaded or downloaded it stays at the original resolution. What is more likely happening is that the images are still the original size but your image software and browser software are automatically resizing the image to fit your window. In a browser window you can right click on the image and click view properties to see the true size. In your image software (I like Irfanview) you can click properties the "i" icon or you can right click on the file in its folder to find the true size.

(JD) and George H.....thanks for your replies. Would you believe the problem automatically resolved itself?? In other words, I take a pic off the Internet, and regardless of the original size, it becomes a uniform size to everyone I send it to. I don't know how or why it did that but something similar happened once before. I guess I just have to wait it out.

There is free image editing software that can be found on several popular free and trial software websites. They are very simple and let you crop, resize, convert, sharpen, etc. I use Faststone and Focusviewer. (Just make sure the software does not contain any spyware or unwanted add-ons like Chrome, browser toolbars, etc. They usually ask you during installation if you want these.) You might have used a thumbnail file instead of the image file.
