I'm not sure if that is also part of ACoA or not. Thanks!

I have never heard of one so I asked siri and she was unable to find any either. the principals taught in acoa would be the same.

I agree with Kaliope as alcohol and drugs are both substance abuse. You just need to interchange the words 'drugs' and 'alcohol' but it is true that the negative effects on children are basically the same.

Adult Children of Alcoholics was just a play on Alcoholics Anonymous-the ACoA model fits perfectly over just about any type of clinical level dysfunction in the home growing up.
Others might argue with this, but one good way to know is of course to read the laundry list, but keep in mind there are those who identify with the opposites for those as well. I'm as classic an ACoA as anyone I've ever met at meetings and both my parents simply used their "alcoholism" to cover up their drug use. Alcoholism being more socially acceptable I guess, because it appeared to work. |

Have you looked into NarAnon or AlAnon? I think those are what you might be talking about. Support groups for family members of people who are either in active addiction or in recovery.
