Would it be possible to add a button above where we type a message for triggering material? Not sure I asked that very clearly. There's a button above where I'm typing this that could be used to put content in a quote box. Would it be possible to have something similar for triggery material? I'm thinking it would be easier for folks with limited computer skills to use than having to type in code.

am now going to try my own test....

Nope. Did it wrong.

Okay try again...

Use brackets like this (but I have to put spaces in or it won't give you the example and will only make it hidden lol)

[ trigger] Text here. That opening bracketed word "trigger" tells the site what to do, and then you have to also 'close' that command and you do so by typing [ /trigger ]

As I said, don't add the spaces between the brackets [] and the word 'trigger' or the '/trigger'

Possible trigger:

Can this coding be added to the "Go Advanced" options so we can just push a button and not have to fuss with the coding? I am coding illiterate and probably wouldn't mess with it without an easy button.
Thanks for this!

Here's what the code for those tags actually looks like:
Code:
[trigger]Whatever your triggering content is[/trigger]
This would be the result:
Possible trigger:

You could paste my line from the Code box into your post and insert your own triggering content.

I originally wrote...
Quote:
If it turns out that these tags are easier to use in a text-mode editing box than in a WYSIWYG one, this is what the control for switching between editor modes looks like. You'll find it to the upper right of the box where you type your post or reply:
New trigger code
...but if you type in the code it looks the same with either kind of editor. Later on, another member suggested using the "bold" button New trigger code to enter the tags, then changing them to read [trigger] (etc.) instead of [B] (etc.). That works, but you can only see the tags if you're in the "text" editor mode.

I tried but couldn't make it work. I'm not good enough at computers and have no clue about code - sorry. Maybe I can't post anything like that.

Hi there. I'm so sorry to appear to be stupid, but what's with this ''I like snow'' thingie???? Yep, I def understand the ***Triggering*** or *possibilly* triggering, I just don't ''get'' the rest!!!!
I don't post anything too triggering often as I'm very aware it could do some untold harm to other members, but is it in order if I do need to write something possibilly triggering, to just write in large letters ***Triggering*** as happens in a lot of sites etc. I would write that, then hit the return key a number of times so the content couldn't be seen unless someone scrolls down???? Is that within reason everybody? As I said, sorry to sound like the village idiot!!!

Awwwe moody cow, go back and read what fooze posted and follow it exactly. Bracket is this [ and back slash is / and actually write in the word trigger. You're not stupid. I had to do it several times before I got it.
Thanks for this!

Possible trigger:

1. left bracket (next to letter P on keyboard) [
2. type the word trigger
3. right bracket (next to left bracket on keyboard) ]
4. type the potentially triggering information
5. left bracket [
6. slash (above the number 8 if you have ten key or on the same key as the question mark) /
7. type the word trigger
8. right bracket ]

Peg's gave a good example....

Quote:
[no gap here trigger no gap here ] I like snow [ no gap here/ trigger no gap here ]
