a while back sky posted the helpful comment about how one of the java updates was reinstalling java with add ons so in the list of programs java was installed twice and was taking up more room than it needed. i deleted the smaller java program and the bigger one (with updates) has been working just fine!

a week or so later i checked through my list of programs to see whether other programs were doing that too... and i found that there were two firefox programs installed. a smaller one and a bigger one (presumably with updates). i uninstalled the smaller one and managed to delete firefox. sigh.

i'll reinstall it soon because I HATE internet explorer. sometimes it simply eats my posts. it says 'all the required fields are not filled in please hit the "back" button'. when i hit the 'back' button it takes me back to the posting box but it is EMPTY and my post is nowhere to be seen. navigating forwards and backwards... post is GONE.

to repeat: i hate internet explorer. sigh.

I hate Internet Explorer too. I've had fewer frustrating on-line experiences since switching to Firefox.

yep. i had a bit of trouble with the open in new tab vs open in new window thing... i think it is as simple as remembering to right click and select the new window option. i'm sure you can default that but i do like the tabs for some things... though i also like working in paralell windows at times.

I'm not an IE fan, either. I just solved a problem with Firefox I'd had for several days, though. MySpace and the WordPress Theme Viewer site were giving me a problem that I still don't know why it started. About 10 days ago, it started popping up the "You have chosen to open (file name)" window, asking me what I wanted to do with the file, when I clicked on a function button (Send, Approve, post, etc.) on MySpace and the other site, instead of performing the function.

I tried all kinds of things, things I found on Mozilla's site, the Standard Diagnostic for Firefox, suggestions from others, Google searches for answers, and nothing worked until I created a new profile. I don't know why that worked, when opening Firefox in Safe Mode didn't. Anyway, I've reinstalled my extensions and reconfigured Firefox, and so far, that problem hasn't reoccurred. There were a couple of other problems that cropped up, but I found fixes (one seemed to fix itself, oddly enough) quickly enough.
