I have tried to post, especially to special interest groups, but get something about threads and number of postings. I'm not sure what a thread is. Number of postings - what where and why. I am not a facebook user, so I don't socialize that way, I like to help. For the rest I have nothing to say.
I had high hopes for this site, but rules and regulations that I don't know about and terms I would don't use or know? If this is organized I can't see it. There is also a lot expert talking down to us poor victims, and go see your shrink, psych. If people coming here felt that was working, they wouldn't be here. I hope others get more out of this than I did, but I quit. |

I'm sorry that you feel the way you do, but this a peer support site and most aren't experts. I wish that you found comfort here as I did, but I understand how you feel. I hope you find a place that answers your questions.

hi kath
if you click on forums on the left of the white bar on the top of your page you will find the index of all the forums available here on PC. when you see one that interests you you click on that forum. if you have a question you want to post in that forum then you click on new thread just above the blue bar that says threads in forum. a thread is simply the questions members post seeking input from other members. type in your question and hit submit new thread at the bottom. after it has posted you then go up to the top right of the blue bar and click on thread tools and choose subscribe to this thread. to check and see if anybody has commented on your post, you simply check My profile on the left side of the blue bar on top and it will take to the area that has all your subscribed threads that have had responses. hope this helps. |

i know it can be frustrating to be reading posts here and see most give the same advice of consult your treatment providers.....this is because there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the page that everyone must follow stating .... ........................................ The material on this site is for informational purposes only, and is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment provided by a qualified health care provider. Always consult your doctor or mental health professional before trying anything you read here. .............. so speaking for my posts that is why I include it in my posts. another reason I put it in my posts is that I know people who have taken what they read on sites like this and apply it to their life only to do great harm to their self because it wasnt part of the treatment that their doctors, psychiatrist, therapists had them on. though some of us here are professionals (doctors, therapists, psychiatrists, teachers and other professions ) we are not allowed to perform our jobs here and ultimately its each members responsibility to follow what is right for them... example someone once told me to contact my treatment provider for something. I politely thanked them then did not do so. Simply because I was busy with other things, I knew the problem was something I did did not need to consult my treatment providers for, i had posted simply because I wanted to know if there were others going through the same thing I was at that moment. just because someone tells you to consult your treatment providers that doesnt mean you .....have ....to do so. its kind of like if you have a cold and someones says boy that cough doesnt sound good, my suggestion is contact your medical doctor. doesnt mean you have to, its just a suggestion. when you post on places like psych central getting posts you may not agree with or like is the risk you take. I love it that so many members here care so much for each other that they make the suggestion people to see their treatment providers rather than trying to play doctor\therapist\psychiatrist with each other. that shows this site has very high standards and everyone cares to not do more harm to each other by telling them to go against their treatment providers. plus sometimes in the thick of it some people (I included) forget to include getting professional care. by suggesting to do so that can remind someone to where they have an ....oh yea I forgot to do that moment. my opinion its a good rule that this site has and its also just common caring, common courtesy to include that persons treatment providers when making suggestions that may help the poster. |
