i think check in threads (bipolar check in, anxiety check in, eating disorder checkin), these check in threads should be at the top of their respective forums as a sticky thread
they are 1 of (if not), the most important thread in that forum- checking to see how everybody is perhaps i'm just annoyed because i had to go all the way to page 4 to find the bipolar check in thread and i don't think that's right |

It is like this in the Chronic Pain forum - the Fibromyalgia Check-In thread is a sticky. A lawyer would argue that therefore this must also be approved for the other threads and forums.

When i first came here little over 5 years ago I noticed some threads stayed in one place while others moved down the line and pages. i asked someone when I noticed their thread went from the moving down places to being stuck in one place how they did that. They told me all that has to happen is the creator of the thread pms a moderator and the moderator fixes it so that its "pinned".
my suggestion would be anyone who starts a thread and then wants their thread like this to pm a moderator then the moderator will sticky\pin it so its at the top or maybe even the creator of the thread report the thread with the request that it be pinned. |

yea at first glance I felt the check in threads were just more of the same and maybe merge them all into one thread somewhere. but then I took the time to actually read many of them in various boards. my opinion changed...though they share the same title they are in fact different. each thread is about checking on that mental disorders symptoms each member that visits that board has... example the check in thread in dissociative disorders a majority of the posts are about what dissociative symptoms each member is having that day. when I first came here about 5 years ago I read somewhere that these kinds of posts were all together in the general board. then they split of the general board into two boards other mental and general social with members who wanted to do check ins to do so in the mental disorder boards they were checking in about, and games were given their own boards. then i read some posts about how confusing it was at first but then after people got used to it the posts were all about how much better and organized it was. i actually like having all the check in threads in each of the mental disorders. it helps new people to see that they are not alone. i do agree that it would be nice if the original posters of those threads did contact the moderators for pinning those threads. my only concern with pinning\sticking these posts is I read somewhere that each thread can only be so many pages long then it has to be closed to keep the website running smoothly or something like that. if these threads got pinned would those threads still have to be closed after so many pages. |

Yes, they would have to be closed once they get to 1000 posts for that thread. It's too frustrating to go through more posts than that when searching. Although, it's easy enough to do a "search" within the thread and/or forum to find what you are looking for.
![]() I'll bring the subject up to the Team regarding making check in threads a sticky thread. Once they get to the 1000 post, we can unsticky them and sticky the new thread. |
