question has some of the posts disappeared. reason I as is because when I notice new people or a name I dont quite remember I check out their profile, past posts and have noticed a couple times today the post number listed to the left where the post says who wrote the post doesnt match up with actual posts seen when clicked on see more posts by that poster...example I just checked out a profile\posts, the number to the left said they have made 5 posts since 2009 but when i went to read their posts only two were showing... so wondering if this is a glitch or if its that the member or mods deleted some posts.

I imagine posts that older posts are deleted frequently so that the servers aren't bogged down. Also, new members have their first five posts moderated, so if they have posted five posts, but only two are visible, the other three haven't been checked off by the staff yet, but still count towards the overall posts the user has made.

Hope I made sense to you.

Nope, we don't delete old posts, so we have posts still here going back to when the community started in 2001.

The post numbers in a member's profile aren't always 100 percent accurate, due to the way the system maintains that number. We can have the system update the number to bring it in line with the actual post number, but because of our huge database and sheer numbers of members, this process takes a very long time and so it's not one we regularly run.

Without knowing the exact member you're talking about, I couldn't say why that number differs for that person. Could be they asked a few posts be removed, could be some of their posts were part of a larger thread that was removed, or could be some else altogether...

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
