I finally had to update to windows 10..

I need to add a plugin so I can see the windows to play the games in the arcade. When I went into the HOW TOs (many of which I wrote) I do not get a list of threads... I do get the sticky threads...and below...white pages...

I can click on one thread by emwell (on the right side list) but that's all the threads I can access.

I get another page that has ONE letter per website window... I think it says something like THE MEANING OF... actually, the one letter is larger than the entire screen and I have to scroll up and down and back and forth to figure out the letter. ...

So I tried to find my own answer...and I've gone and added some plugins with Mozilla...but nothing has worked.

Yeah, me and my game playing in the arcade.

Okay I couldn't even edit with Mozilla... the previous post... and am on Chromium (which just now showed up in a short cut on my desktop from who knows were or why.

Is Firefox just not compatible with Windows 10 do you know? I haven't run into any other issues til now (okay it's only been a few days with getting 10 to run.)

Nope. just checked the arcade.. I'm missing the plugin. Too brain fogged to figure this out on my own today. Thanks for reading... brain fog is one of the reasons I play the games

My notebook came with Window 10 and the information I get is that is was designed for the new Microsoft Edge browser. I had a terrible time getting to google to go check my gmail. Windows 10 killed my old laptop when I upgraded, all it can do is blink between black and the desktop. It takes up a lot of memory and may leave your computer unable to function. Is Cortana driving you nuts butting in? I tried to shut her off but it didn't work. My zoom goes from tiny to gigantic without me doing anything to cause it too. Sorry for your troubles. I hope they are fixable.

Thanks... yeah windows 10 killed my all in one printer...but I have a new HP with the instant ink (and legal paper print too) so... oh well.

I'm still looking for the "plug in" I need... nothing's familiar. I could spit nails

Got it.

After about 20 different web pages, 2 how-to videos and nothing helped... I finally found a sidenote on a mozilla help page that gave me a link that gave me a link that gave me a link (yep) to Adobe flash player download.

So now to see if I can read the forums I was having issues with as well....in firefox.

Nope. nothing in this area : Community Feedback & Technical Support - Forums at Psych Central will open normally...it's all king kong letters I can't read one on one page even.

Seems they all have a pop up for my lastest posts or subscribed threads or something at the top... going to see if I can block that new item

Nope I have no subscribed to threads...and I've removed the blocks to all forums just in case... no change.
All I get on the above forum is a white page with part of a gigantic 3... which I can read if I scroll around a page or two

did you check on the zoom? Mine goes crazy, but I can adjust it. It's in a little menu ... up in the right corner

My operating system is Windows 10, and I have no problems (so it's not PC).

Are you using Microsoft Edge as your browser? That's what I use, and like I said I have no problems.

I tried the zoom....

I can only get into a forum through the last thread responded to..and only THAT thread. If I try to go into a forum from the main listing/head titles then I get only the white page with the huge letter... I did use zoom but it only went down to 30% and then I could read 2 letters at once but of course the regular index page was too tiny to tell it was wording

I guess I will try edge for this just place. The only way I can access my own threads is by the pop up window at the top to "FIND ALL YOUR OWN POSTS" or something like that. I can't find indexes except the forum one on the main page...but see nothing if I click on them...well you know, what I said...only the stickies and a big white page.

Sigh. Maybe God is telling me to leave...making it so difficult to read and post here. OR maybe the devil is trying to run me off... decisions decisions

Okay that works. Psychcentral has it's very own browser now for me. I'll use edge to get here and firefox for everything else in my life (until the government requires more use of it's own Microsoft edge, you know, for spying. )

I totally "get" what you're saying about Microsoft synching Windows 10 with Edge.

Apple is the "king" of synching: Macs are synched to iPads which are synched to iPods which are synched to iPhones. That's why Apple is sitting on more cash than the federal government.

You know when I finally got Windows 10 to install properly, I refused it to have all my info (and I don't have Cortana activated esp.) ... perhaps this is it's retaliation for my refusal?

Well... this I will allow, for here... but if they ever demand I put a chip into my body or a tattoo on my forehead, that's where I draw the line.

What like a barcode on the forehead? I didn't realize edge would make me more viewable to the government, but they're already so far into my business I don't know what difference it makes.

Now a virus warning has attached itself to the edge browser so I can't use the laptop. Can't get rid of the thing, I'm supposed to call a number to have my computer "cleaned" but since they're the ones causing the problem I'd rather send a worse virus to them. Anyone know how to do that?

Do NOT call the number. What you have is commonly called "the Microsoft scam." The warning is NOT from Microsoft.

Your computer is "locked" by the virus, but all you have to do to get rid of it is unplug your computer (power cord) then re-plug the power cord.

It's a scam from India (where most scams come from).

They will tell you that your computer is full of viruses and malware, etc., then they'll try to sell you multi-year, big money anti-virus software that doesn't exist (I read this on cnet).

Unplug your power source, and do NOT call the number and/or provide any financial information.

battery finally ran down and I did a system restore. It's gone. I think I picked it up on Facebook.

Something is still not right. First the firewall shut off when I didn't do it and then the notebook went into airplane mode when I didn't do it.

No, it still isn't right for me either.
I've solved the printer/scanner issue by buying a new one...HP instant ink one.

BUT I cannot have windows do updates because EACH time it does, I lose my start menu and am left with only the black and white listing of functions etc. (as per the first Windows 10 upgrade had...) I did an update to that first and did get the start menu, but each consecutive (same one?) update removes it and puts my computer back in time I guess.

And these are the experts we rely upon?

However, a bigger issue is that I cannot block windows from updating....and while it says it creates a restore point before updating, it does not. Thank God I have that one restore point where things work. Alas but for how much longer because I fall behind in updates I fear...weekly???

One of those external storage devices maybe? It takes up a lot of room, it's a big program. I find it creepy that when I log out here the computer now says, "this site says are you sure you want to log out" as of said by a third party. This is the language of the pop ups that lock my browser.

Well... it just updated again (I have NO choice... it won't even let you "download but ask me before installing" choices..)
BUT this last update... after a "restore/fix problems with Windows updates that ran for TWO DAYS and I cancelled out of it... THIS update has the newer/older start menu... so we'll see if it's fixed now?

I am on Chrome though.... I think that came with Avast update. Going to see if I can play games in it

No it won't... plugin issue again. I know there was once a day that I knew how to fix all this... sigh
