There is a christian, buddhist, etc social group forum, but there are no social group forums for atheism, just social groups, which are not the same thing.

Will someone start a social group FORUM for Atheism? I don't have the power to do this as I am not a chat leader, or whatever the requirement was.

I thought once you got twenty or twenty-five members social groups showed up in the feed like a forum. We have 170 members in the skeptics social group.

It should show up in the forum then. Maybe one of the moderators can explain.

It doesn't show up for me either. I have no idea why. I think there is a way to block forums you do not want to see so they won't cover up the ones that are more interesting but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

A social group does not automatically have a forum when it reaches the required number of members. The owner of the social group has to take steps to create the forum. Sorry, I don't remember what they have to do.

If I remember correctly there was discussion in the Skeptics forum a while back about creating a forum for the group and folks wanted to just have the social group.

The reason y'all are not seeing a forum for the Skeptics group is that one was never created. I would encourage anyone interested to come join us in the social group.

You can find the group here

Thanks for this!

Social groups are managed by their owners, not us (the community support team).

As Lizardlady said, it is incumbent upon a social group owner that once it attains the minimum number of members -- 25 -- they enable the forum for that group. Some owners may not want to do so for whatever reasons, but it's their choice. We can't make someone do it...

Jimi, click on "social groups" on the menu bar near the top of the page. A list of about eleven zillion different social groups will pop up. There's a short description of the group and a thing you can click to join. There's a search option so you can search for whatever kind of group you are interested in, though I find it interesting to scroll through the list.
Thanks for this!
