Hi everyone,
I'm trying to get into chat....it's been AGES since I've been on PC, let alone in chat. I cannot, however. Perhaps I'm a confuser-idiot, but I don't know why I cannot get in. BOO. It keeps telling me to "install Java" which I have. Frustrating. I'd appreciate any help/suggestions. Thx ![]() Des |

Please update your java? Click on the update when it offers it and download the latest version of Java... that could well be the only problem! (((hugs)))

Also it could be a firewall you've installed?
You might want to check that. Once I couldn't get in and there were critical microsoft updates that I'd not installed so you might want to check that too. ![]() Good luck! KD

Try the following, if its not too hard for you to follow:
Internet Explorer 7 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. Click on the Tools button (the picture of the gear) or “Tools” from the program menu. 3. Click on Internet Options…. 4. Click the Security tab. 5. In the “Security level for this zone” box, click on Custom level…. 6. Scroll toward the bottom of the Settings box to Scripting. 7. Enable active scripting. 8. Click OK twice to close the dialogue. 9. Click the Refresh button after the Address Bar at the top of your browser, or hit F5. Also I would like you to try the following test and see if your java is working at all: http://www.bodo.com/javame.htm Tell me what you came up with, if you were able to see the java box |

Also, you have to allow pop ups for this site.

Thanks Sky & Rainbowzz. Essentially, the core issue is that for some reason, I cannot install Java. I have *no* idea how it was deleted from my confuser, either. Weird.
It keeps saying "This installation pkg cannot be opened. Verify that the pkg exists & that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer pkg." Grrrr. Any suggestions? |

So you downloaded the Java update and it won't let you install, is that it? Maybe the file's corrupt or incomplete. I'd try downloading it again, and then trying to install again.

grrr for you.
![]() Ok, I would go into the add/remove on the control panel and UNINSTALL / REMOVE the Java..everything Java.. then turn off the computer and restart to make sure it's clearly gone, then download Java again. Make sure you don't have anything else open, and if you have to have your security program disabled (I don't have a clue) then do that (it will tell you if you do need to do that.) Are you on an IBM/PC or Mac? That might make a difference. www.java.com
