Hi,

I have had some of my posts disappear after I successfully submitted them. No moderator contacted me to tell me anything was wrong with the content in any of them. (Moderators of forums will often delete posts that are offensive or violate community rules in some way.)

I messaged a moderator here at PC about my vanishing posts to see if one of them deleted them and neglected to tell me. But it doesn't appear that my posts were deleted by any of them.

So it may be a software glitch.

Has anyone else here at PC had any of their posts vanish mysteriously after they were successfully submitted?

Thanks for your reply.

After some more investigating, it does look like my post was deleted by a moderator. The thread has been moved, but my post seems to have been deleted in the process.

But the moderator who deleted my post did not tell my why, and I am frustrated about this. I have no problem with a moderator deleting my post. But it makes no sense not to tell me what I did wrong, or what I was deemed to have done wrong.

How can you learn not to make the same mistake again if you have no idea what the mistake is?

I have searched the forums again and found that it's not policy to just delete a post deemed inappropriate and say nothing to the poster about it. It says that members will receive a PM in which they are informed what has happened and why. So, whoever deleted my post is not following PC guidelines/policy.

Here is a link to the article about people being informed about deleted posts.

To clarify, members are notified when their posts are removed (if an entire thread was not removed; in that case, we may not be able to notify each member since threads may contain hundreds of postings).

Sometimes that notification doesn't happen, or is delayed by a day or two as the moderator works on creating a PM that explains the issue. Everything is done through the entire community support team, so the PM may be delayed a bit as we discuss the matter.

When the notification doesn't happen, it's because something fell through the cracks -- we're human, we make mistakes too. We try and do our best to not let this happen, but it can and does sometimes, for which I apologize for.

Best,
DocJohn

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
