Perhaps this exists?

It would be a real benefit to some of us if we had the option to post the occasional question or vent as an anonymous...

There are some things that make me identifiable to the outside world. I can't post about them.

There are some occasions when I would like the opinion of the community without them knowing who I am...after all there are many here who are known by what they say and how they say it and to remove any connection to a "known" poster could be a huge benefit in that the respondents would be totally neutral (I know most are, but some are not and it's also inevitable that some responses would be tailored to whom they are answering).

I am totally against the ability to RESPOND as anonymous for obvious reasons.

If such a thing is possible or exists then please point me in the direction of how to do it. If it's too difficult, I understand.

Thank you.

I think that would be a good idea but it the names would have to be visible to the moderators and admins because if it wasn't people could abuse it.

the only things I can think of is

you can set your profile in a way that it doesnt show when you are online. (invisible) this wont make it so that you post without your user name. just makes it so that members dont know when you are online.

and if you register using the word anonymous for a user name then your posts reflect you have that name...but.... I have also noticed deleted accounts have user name anonymous with a number so if you register with that as your name members may think you deleted your account or got banned/ suspended for some reason, and could cause some stress for your psych central friends who may end up thinking you left or got suspended\banned.

my suggestion is just dont put in your posts identifying information (which is pretty standard safety rules when using the internet anyway) and if you feel someone has recognized you contact a moderator who can help you change your name or close one account and open a new one if needed.
Thanks for this!

Members should not try and register a second account to post anonymously without first contacting an administrator to review that option (which is extremely limited to specific circumstances and must be pre-approved). Having more than one account is forbidden by our community guidelines.

Very few people register with their real name here, and we encourage members to NOT use a username they've used previously elsewhere online. Having said that, details of a person's life or situation -- if unique enough or expressed with enough information -- could compromise a person's privacy, so we encourage people to not provide detailed personal information.

As for the option of posting anonymously, we will consider it, but it would only be possible if the member's name was know to the community support team.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
