Hi, just to clarify in two years on PC I have only put one user on ignore (because they sent me abusive PMs) so I am not familiar with exactly how the ignore feature works.

I was under the impression that someone on my ignore list would not be able to post on a thread started by me. Today I was looking back over an old thread of mine and noticed they had posted (for some reason I did not notice at the time, not sure why), it did say someone on my ignore list had posted rather than show the reply but I was surprised they were able to post at all.

Is this correct or has there been a technical glitch?

They can still post via Tapatalk. There is no ignore feature on there.

when you put someone on ignore it doesnt take out the posts they wrote to any of your threads before you put them on ignore.

example using you and me to make this easier to explain...if I put you on ignore today but you wrote a post to me a week ago, it may seem to me like you posted to me even though you are on ignore when in reality you posted to me..... before..... I put you on ignore.

one thing about putting someone on ignore.. when you put someone on ignore even if they are using taptalk and end up posting in your thread, you still would not see what they posted to you because the ignore prevents.....you ...from seeing any of their posts.

my suggestion is keep track of when you put someone on ignore. that way you will know if its an old post done before you put that person on the ignore list. that way when you see a notation that they have posted in your thread you will be able to use self care by reminding yourself the post was done before you put them on ignore and that you dont get to see their post until you take them off your ignore list. if they trigger you try using self care and dont open their post. (thats what I do when I see someone on my ignore list has posted in my threads before i put them on the ignore list and Im just rereading old threads.

I don't think it's like Facebook where you can block someone,I think 'ignoring' them means just that, and you are unable to see their posts.

This probably isn't the 'proper' place to ask this, but amandalouise, why does it seem there's a delay in your posts? When I posted in this thread, your post wasn't here, yet when I came back here again, there it was...?

Thanks they were on ignore at the time they posted on my thread (I know because I have PMs which are a record of the time they went on ignore).

I'm not using tapatalk, just regular interface but maybe the answer is they are?

So is it definitely correct that they can still post on my threads?

Yes, THEY might use Tapatalk. Since we don't know who has us on ignore, it can be really hard to not overstep at times with Tapatalk since there is no indication that we should not post. Basically the ignored user has to remember if they tried to post in the past and was blocked. Sometimes they might never have tried to post in your thread so they can't know, or they have but forgot.

Some people do not have so much computer access and also for some reason this forum does not come in mobile version (even if it is something vBulletin usually can do), and then Tapatalk is a good option and I am glad it is allowed here.

The downside is that people on Tapatalk can post when they are not supposed to be able to. I think that is a small price to pay when it is to allow users to easily handle the forums on their phones, instead of blocking all phone users.

I think in this case, unless they wrote something nasty, just move on.

Thanks for clarifying jimi, from replies here it seems that this person using tapatalk is the likely answer.

I'm relieved to know that on the regular version of the site they are still blocked.

I will just shrug it off this time, but as an aside it's a shame this loophole exists - as I mentioned I have only put this person on ignore because they sent me some abusive pms, I really did not want to see their username yet alone anything they wrote after that.

Yea I know it's not nice... but it is what it is. It's also weird to come from the other side and someone being mad at you for replying when you don't even know them or know you are on iggy... Sigh.

Unfortunately, tapatalk is an app for smart phones that does not recognize the ignore feature so that members on someone's ignore list can indeed post in that member's threads.

I'm sorry but there is no work around that PC can do for this issue.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
