I know why mods have to review posts before they go up...this is a mental health forum after all, but it seems to take hours for the posts to get approved.

So I sit and wait

and wait

and wait

and wait

and give up

and find a different source for information, support, etc.

How does that then make this forum helpful at all?????????????
The answer: it doesn't.

Once you have posted for a small number of posts (I don't know what that number is) you will no longer have to have them approved ahead of time.

Good to know. Maybe that 411 was in the FAQs I haven't read yet. LOL. I'm cool. It was just really frustrating for a few days when I had urgent questions for others and couldn't get my questions up to be answered in time.

This post was up immediately tho Still waiting on the other one to be posted.

We do this to keep our community spam-free. If you've been a member of many other online communities, you'll notice they either have (a) more spam or (b) something similar in terms of a moderation period.

I know it's annoying, but we're all volunteers here. We do a lot of work behind the scenes to keep the community safe and running, but it's not always as timely as we would like when it comes to moderating. Sorry about that.

Best,
DocJohn

I think (if I remember correctly) that when you make your first posts, a message is displayed after you submit them, letting you know that after your first five posts are approved, your posts will then display immediately. There really is a lot of support here. See you around the forum.

Sorry it hasn't been quick enough for you. I assure you, the best effort is taken to ensure everybody gets seem to in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the moderators and administrators aren't paid; they also lead lives themselves, perhaps with issues of their own to cope with.

Please be patient. Once the first 5 posts are approved, they'll need not be approved for you anymore.

The reason, as is probably already pointed out, is that it helps filter out spam and any other inappropriate content. Due to the nature of this site, I feel it makes sense for there to be a greater amount of care. Meanwhile, if you're looking for more immediate help, please consider a support line.

Best of luck to you and hope you stay.

IMO this is a small price to pay in order to keep out the spammers. I appreciate that they do this. It's got to be a mild annoyance at best, for the staff to have to approve new member posts, but it's sure better than having to clean up 10 forums from the spam that can and does plague other systems/forums. Thank you for doing this. Not hard to reach that number of posts it takes to get to where everyone knows you're not a spammer.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
