Thanks for this!

I am fine waiting. I imagine there will be all sorts of glitches with the conversion.

I'm just excited! It feels like getting a new car, except no spending money

Well it certainly offers more features than the one we are on. Hope to hear more as details become available

My main concern is personal anonymity, that we do not have to link to email but can use a login from Psych Central as we do now. So will this be integrated to the forums so that we can log in using our Psych Central login?
Thanks

Because browsers and smartphones are always changing, we need to keep up with the technology when it comes to chat (which is different than the forums). It's hard to do that when the company has stopped performing updates to its software.

Therefore, we need a new chat room system.

The Choice

After evaluating a host of different products, we're likely going to be settling on this product to implement:

Let me know what you think!

I'd assume so. We already talked about migrating accounts, so I don't think it'd be too hard to hook into PC accounts

Not to be a **** or anything but this site is free to use and the admins/mods are unpaid volunteers.

Plus, as somebody who has web developing knowledge, I have grown to appreciate the work and knowledge that is needed to make such changes to a website. Changing the chat functionality of a web site or making any other change to a part of a web site isn't as simple as changing a few settings and clicking a few buttons. There is going to be more work and more things to consider than that.

If you want to chat so badly with people than use Facebook, Snapchat, Whatsapp, or something similar.
Thanks for this!

Well, with all due respect, DocJohn said "sometime in July". I don't expect the transition to be instantaneous, but I do expect updates on the progress at least within the month of ETA.

I'll be happy to provide updates when I have them; I have no updates, so I haven't written anything more to this thread given there was nothing more for me to add at the moment.

It'll likely be either this weekend or next, just depends on my schedule and when I have the time to work on the install. There's a *lot* of work involved in doing something like this, so it requires me to forfeit a significant chunk of my time to get it done correctly, working in conjunction with our developer.

You'll be notified once we have more info.

Perhaps when my skill as a web developer improves, I could volunteer for this site one day?

I wouldn't be able to do such a thing now because I'm still learning, but one day, I could perhaps be useful to you guys

I've seen projects to incorporate a new "app" or "plug in" into an existing framework, take months at work, with a large team of systems analysts, project manager, developer, marketing all involved. This may be on a smaller scale, but security is a huge part of this project and it needs to be done right. If it's done in July, great, if I takes longer, that's fine too. The main concern is that it be done right. And it sounds like that is what Doc John is ensuring. Patience.
