the way I see chat rooms is just like real life... it never fails a diner will say they just serve breakfast and there will be patrons who want dinner items, a college class may be about first aid but there will be people talking about history, a parking lot has handicapped parking only but others park there too. the law may be no littering but people are going to litter, the speed limit may be 65 but theres bound to be people who go 75... I dont think I have met anyone in all my life that followed every single rule, stayed out of where they dont belong, went only the speed limit their whole life from first getting their license to the present.... I mean its life not utopia. nothing is perfect and there is no such thing as a perfect chat room lay out just like there is no perfect designated spots in real life, even the designated have their wrong way drivers and such. my point I dont expect the internet to conform to me and how I want it to be. its the internet and just like life its going to not be perfect at all times for everything that I want. the only thing I can do and control is me. if I dont like whats happening in chat rooms I dont use them. I dont have a lot of time to use the chat rooms here very often but I can say that what I have seen of them they are as clearly defined if not more so. and Adding more rooms and designations is not going to solve the problem of people talking about things in the wrong rooms. here is a suggestion.... somewhere around here I read that people can make their own private chat rooms. somewhere around here is a thread on how to become a chat host so you can make your own private chat room and invite only those you want to chat with to it. or even create your own social group where you can discuss what topics you want to with only your friends... Im not saying the orignal situation in the original post wasnt bad because no one should have to be told they cant talk about their delusions. its a mental health website so of course mental health symptoms like delusions should be able to be discussed in the chat rooms....but as far as making more designations and such for chat rooms so others wont be talking in the wrong places is not going to work in my opinion. there is an option for those that dont want to discuss whats being discussed in the chat rooms...become a chat host and make a private chat room. |

Clearly no system is perfect
But its no doubt some are better than others And I have considered becoming a chat host so I can host a schizophrenia chat for those who are like me and have "delusions" where we can talk about it without being discriminated against based on our mental illness But I doubt that any of the admins would let me do that because apparently when you have an idea to help the community that they didnt think of themselves, they look at that as insubordination, nevermind the fact that Ive been using the chat since I joined in 2012 |

Wow, I'm not sure where us listening to your ideas and reminding you of our current chat system rules translates into "they didn't think of themselves, they look at that as insubordination."
As I said previously, no matter what we do or what we name things, no system is perfect and we will very much look at different ways of approaching this concern. Seeing as we seemed to have answered this question to the best of our abilities, I'm now going to close this thread, as we also seem to be going around in circles on this topic.
