What are the rules in regards to swearing and strong language on the forums and in the chat room? I was looking at the guidelines and couldn’t find any info about it. Maybe I missed something. I try not to swear but sometimes it slips out. At least on a forum it’s not real time so it can be avoided. I know I don’t want to upset anyone, I’m just wondering the official rules.

We hope and expect members will try and not use profanity whenever possible. It's not a hard and fast rule, but it is my expectation folks can find other words to express their needs...

Mmm... Doc is right. And there is a text-bot that will censor certain words and phrases. You can’t give a shout-out to **** Van Dyke, but D**k Tracy can be your favourite detective.

I find cursing cathartic. And I try to find ways to get around some of the auto-censors. I don’t believe that I’ve offended anyone: I’ve never been warned about my creativity. As a triple-agent I learned some British, Scottish, and Irish curse-words and street slang so if I’m off on a tear (just lettin’ it slip out) I’ll reach into different bags to express myself.

One word of advice, though. No personal attacks.

There was - maybe still is - a ‘cussing’ thread. Let of some steam.

Yikes! Gotta ask my question!

While we do allow some things to get through at times, constantly going around the cuss filter is not appropriate and may find that your post will be edited.
