No notice from staff. Can someone fill me in why this is happening?

It happens to me too. I wish the staff was more communicative about removing posts.

I had a post removed and it took almost a full day to get the warning message from a mod. It can help to keep in mind that they do their work on a volunteer basis and this is a busy time of year for us all. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't always have the time to send a warning message for each post they remove. It would end up being a lot of work! Just something to perhaps keep in mind.

Same here. They don't always have the ability to alert every one when they modify or remove your post. Just assume you inadvertently broke a guideline and they removed the post. It's not a huge deal. We all do accidentally at some point or another. I accidentally posted in the men's forum and got my post deleted. I was just searching for a subject and didn't realize the thread was in the men's forum, lol.

Accidents happen.

My post was on topic. It had nothing in it to delete. No cuss words, no crudeness, no attacks, no anything. I am not amused.

A lot of my perfectly compliant posts were deleted too. So, I thought it was a glitch or something and reposted them. Hoo boy, was I wrong. How was I supposed to know when nobody ever told me?

Sometimes when we need to prune a thread (in order to keep it open), we will have to delete not only the problematic posts, but also replies to those posts (since otherwise the problematic poster will still see their replies and feel like they need to reply again). We can't notify every single poster when we do this, because it could be a dozen different people, depending upon the thread.

If your post and only your post was removed, generally you will receive a notice within 48 hours of why that happened. Generally, it is because it violated one of the community guidelines (which involve a lot more than cursing, attacks, and crudeness).

But yes, we're not perfect, and sometimes this notice doesn't get sent. We try our best to be consistent, though.

BTW, IttyBit, I have looked into your question further, and see all 58 of your posts with zero removals or deletions. Perhaps you just aren't seeing them for some reason? (E.g., a browser caching issue or something like that). We don't actually physically delete posts, we simply move them out of public view, so if you had any deleted posts, I would be able to see and access them.

Thanks for looking into it. From what someone else told me..there are TWO exactly titled threads. And I mean EXACT titles. My post is in one of them. Which is why I could not find it.

Again, thank you for checking it out and explaining. I appreciate it.

I have had a few deleted. They were promptly explained to me and I can definitely see the mod's point of view.

Well, not all of us are that lucky. My posts go missing sometimes and I get not so much as a word from the team. Makes it super hard for me to distinguish a server glitch from them intentionally removing my thread/post.

Yet another example happened today. A whole thread on self care was deleted and not a word was said to me.

I'm not sure how you're supposed to know what was wrong with your thread so as to not do it again if they don't communicate with you about it.

Exactly. Poor communication on the end of the "team" is disappointing. This site has no excuse for such poor communications. Volunteers or no, they NEED to explain to us why they removed said thread or post EVERY SINGLE TIME, or we can't know what was wrong or if it was a glitch.

If the current team is overwhelmed or can't possibly complete this task, the answer is simple. MAKE MORE MODERATORS AND ADMINS.

If you mean the stalking thread? Maybe it was against community guidelines? You werent asking for support. And it was unclear who you were offering support to? Like maybe the community guidelines mean, by offering support, it should be to a specific poster, not the world in general? Idk.

Please stop telling us how to run the site; that is neither helpful nor supportive. If it were so simple to "make" more moderators and admins, we would be doing so. They are volunteers that come from our membership. We can't "make" more.

Members are notified when their thread is removed within 48 hours of such removal. That has always been the case, so please set your expectations accordingly. If that's not "good enough" for you, unfortunately we can't do better here. (Well, I guess we could if we charged every member for access to the community to help pay for staffing, but we made a commitment not to do that many years ago. )

Given this question has been asked and answered, we're closing this thread.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
