When I try to post a pic in a thread, and select the insert image icon, and then paste in the image address, it never works.

Pic links not working

I'm pretty sure you won't see the image above that I posted. I'll be surprised if it shows up. I notice this mostly in the general social chat forum, which is pretty much the only place where I include pics.

Yes, the image showed up as a broken link. When I copied the location into a new browser window, it came back with "Invalid URL signature".

Generally, you can see if it's going to work by using the "Preview Post" button before submitting.

How about trying to paste in the following URL? This one worked for me earlier this evening.

The link doesn't even show up when I do the preview post or when I do the post. I can't even see the link after I post it.

You mean the original image you tried to put up in post #1?

I see my browser's little broken page icon, where you attempted to insert the image. I can extract the URL from that (which doesn't work for me either).

In the interest of troubleshooting, did you have any luck with the URL I provided?

Yes, in the original post, it does not even show the URL. But when I use the URL myself, it is not broken.

I would rather wait for the admins to respond.

If this isn't working for you, I would try a different web browser, as it sounds like something is blocking your web browser from inserting the [ img ] tag properly. You can also likely just use the [ img ] tag directly into the browser if your browser doesn't support the use of the insert image icon.

Also, if you're trying to post images from Facebook, that may often not work due to the permissions of the original image (e.g., you may be able to see the image fine, but it may not be set to be seen by the general public or non-logged in Facebook users).

You need to copy the file to your computer and upload it here, and then link to that uploaded image.

I tried again today, using Imgur because I was having issues mostly from Facebook. The image is totally public. https://forums.psychcentral.com/our-...ml#post6059230

Hi seesaw, I think you're correct; something with the link isn't working right. But I want to let you know that I clicked on the little box (on your Pet thread) and the pic opened up.

When I try to post seesaw's two images here using the links, I get the same "no pic" icon that I already see where seesaw tried to post them.

When I use Firefox's "Copy Image Location" (or "Copy Image URL") feature and paste the resulting URL into the location bar of a new browser window, I do see each picture.

I saved both images to my computer and uploaded them here as attachments. Here they are:

Pic links not working

Pic links not working

I'm puzzled why I can apparently access those two images by other means, just not by putting the fbcdn and Imgur URLs between [IMG] tags.

.
Attached Images
File Type: jpg WinterFL.jpg (140.3 KB, 19 views)
File Type: jpg Puppies.jpg (135.4 KB, 20 views)

These images are apparently from Facebook or Instagram, which has a very complex system for allowing viewing of content and expiring content from its CDN:

If you're trying to post images from Fb/gram, your best bet is to save the image to your computer, then upload it as an attachment (as Fooze has helpfully suggested).

They are not from Facebook or Instagram. They are from Imgur, an image sharing platform. I don't upload images to PC for a reason.
