When you go onto your control panel, it gives you the option of edit your details (the link at the top of the list on the left hand side)

I'm wondering something (my reason for asking is I have safety concerns) it wants a postcode added in when you click that, this is what it says:

Postal Code - Private, for internal use only What's your ZIP or Postal code?

And it gives a box thing that you fill in, is it essential for that box to be filled in? Why does it insist it needs a postcode/zip code/whatever code?

Will the forum explode if we don't fill it in? Will it cause problems for the mods/admin if I delete my postcode from that box? I'm not comfortable having it in there but don't want to cause problems.

As I think I said, I got safety concerns so I'd prefer to delete my postcode from that box if I'm allowed to do so.

Anything that says "for internal use only" is just that -- private information we're asking from you to help us more effectively better manage the forums. We do not share this information with others; it is kept confidential.

So am I understanding that the box thing has to be filled in, no ifs buts or maybe's, DocJohn?

I understand that it does not get shared with anyone, even if they ask for it, I'm just confused about whether it's absolutely essential for it to be filled in or whether I could safely remove it without anything happening like the forum exploding or it causing problems somehow, sorry idk if I'm making sense
