Tonight I'm noticing that some threads seem like private conversations. Some of them make no sense at all. It's just like a "word salad". Threads with only one or two speaking are the most confusing.. I want to say "WTH"???

Umm, yeah, I play exquisite corpse here all the time but only if there are dozens of others playing.

Oh! Exquisite Corpse can be played with words, drawings, etc. I doubt many people play it today.
If you’ve many players you would have a roll of paper. Very similar to the “three word story” threads here — but each player only sees the immediately last contribution (or, in drawing, maybe ¼” of the edges of the previous doodle). I like to play with words and grammar and punctuation, and while I don’t do so much here, it is one of my styles. It can be mistaken for “word salad.” And I’m equally guilty of having conversations in threads that should really be PMs.

What I've always thought. shady individuals (often brag) and others breach peoples privacy rights and go on to compromise the whole chat in general. Keep your info close to you until you build a decent long term rapport with another. Who you you can trust and might want to share. There are a lot of slime bag aholes in such a large pscyh site! That's not just my two cents It's staying safe!

It's also possible to basically exclude anyone from chat if there is a type of "clique" and games are played. It's typical of very active forums but there are ways to make people feel more comfortable. I won't name the reaosns here but understand chat monitors are below moderators, administrators, and the owner Doc. John. If non are on like I just checked right now. Than chat becomes ummm whatever it morphs into. Sad a website so large doesn't even have a mod on at this time! Just go to the main forums page scroll down and you will see everyone that is registered.

I'm not sure why it's "sad" that we don't have 24/7 monitors here, given relatively how few problems we have despite our large membership. Yes, it would be ideal, but I don't think the opposite of ideal is "sad."
Back to the OP's question, I think different members use the forums for different reasons. And we don't always have to fully understand those reasons if they're finding it helpful... or occasionally forget to PM something that might work better as a PM.

I respect your opinions as the owner and a very involved professional that gives so much time on here in many different facets. But to not get into semantics and parentheses I can testify what happens in the chat towards night .When you have at least a chat monitor and the switch; when all supportive staff including chat monitors leave. I have seen it. I have experienced it like clockwork. We can agree to disagree Still, your website for ALL psychological/mental/ and co-occurring issues is par non at the top tier!
