I find it supportive, but real life support groups work better for me.

I feel if I post a genuine concern or question I get seldom responses and sometimes I feel laughed at. I also feel like I get talked behind my back, maybe I’m paranoid. I have some regulars who show support but I feel PC can be very cliquey. ☹️

I found overtime it’s better to ask a friend who knows me than to seek support online

I find people here supportive. There's a few members who when I scare myself are happy to PM back and forth with me to calm me down before I completely flip my lid all over the forum

Being supportive might be different for different people. I do not find the command to "be supportive" (or else) to be very helpful.

Listening, even to ideas that people have that are not the approved ideas, I think is supportive. I don't find a lot of it here.

Not sure this is the right forum for this kind of discussion, though...

I’ve never had any issues with any of your posts. I like listening to ideas that aren’t necessarily the approved ideas. As some of these ideas, many of which I can’t use.. (allergies etc) seem to be repeated so many times (and I’m sure I’m “guilty” of that too). I do try to be supportive but I agree it means different things to different people. I welcome discussion in most of my threads. I also don’t like being told to be silent (few would enjoy this..)

Hugs ((( pachy )))

It's well-known now that online communication can be easily misunderstood, because it lacks in tone and quality compared to one-on-one conversation (where you can really get a sense of someone's empathy and caring, or any shades of the opposite).

It's good idea to remember, too, that it's kind of a gamble coming here to ask for support for very personal issues. There's never much guarantee the same people will be here from visit to visit; and everyone here is dealing with one or more big issues in their lives, at any given time.

Considering just these 2 variables, along with all the others that I know exist here, it's still beating the odds for remaining a safe and helpful arena for socializing.

I do wish I could convey effectively just how much I care about every single person---and would love to listen and help and try to ease their pain for a little while, and perhaps even give them hope. But even if I had 24 hours a day to sit and type it out, 7 days a week, I probably still would be hampered by the medium of typing. And some people would (without a doubt) accuse me of being attention-seeking, full of beans, or something like that.

For me, given all my life experiences with nasty family members, and unkind, bullying neighbours my entire childhood, this place seems pretty okay!

Sincerest (((Hugggs))), and peace of mind to all.

Definitely PC members have been supportive to me in so many difficult moments. I try to be supportive too when I can. And it's also thanks to PC people if I found a therapist in real life, because they encouraged me a lot to do it, so I'm really really grateful for PC
