I think it's really important that you are able to reply to a thread, even if the person starting the thread is ignoring you
I sort of get why it's in place, but also.. the person can't see your message anyway- does it mattter? their's the option of starting a new thread, I know that, but when it's something like a daily dcheck- in thread, it almost seems like a pointless thing to do. if you have for example a bipolar check in, and the person is ignoring you, the right thing wouldn't be to start another bipolar check in- because that just wouldn't be right (because everyone else is using the first one) all I'm saying here is that I believe it's fine for users on your ignore list not to see your messages, but I'm really not sure about being unable to reply to the threads- like I say especially if it's a check-in, which is meant to be for everyone what are your thoughts |

I agree with you.

A daily checkin type thread is considered a "public" thread, and the guidelines do state they should be started either by someone with no ignore list, or a moderator. So this should NEVER be a problem.
A private type thread is still up to the users discretion, as far as i know, where a person is asking for support etc. Personally, i find somebody having me on their ignore list, stops me from crawling up their butt all the time. I may feel i like them and am being helpful, but if they dont feel the same way and they find me irritating, why should PC hold my words out there somewhere pointed directedly towards them? What a nightmare! There are LOTS of other people to engage with on PC as there are in life, and that is a lesson in itself. |

I know I have not been here very long but if a person starts a check in thread-then it seems like everyone on the forum should be invited to use that thread. If the person who has you on ignore starts a thread about a particular issue they are having then it should be up to them if they do not want a response from certain individuals.
I’m still newish here so I don’t know if anyone has me on their ignore list, but if they did I would not take it too personal. To me that just means that someone else can’t tolerate my honesty or maybe I trigger them in some way or they may find me rude. But for me it is what it is. I do however agree that any check In threads or threads like the couch over in the psychotherapy forum should only be started by someone who does not have anyone at all on their block list. |

there are some threads around that have been started before this rule went into affect. for those its my understanding that if you find one to report them so that new ones that the whole community can participate in. the ignore and posting in others threads when they have you on ignore... it used to be that people could post in threads started by someone, and no they would not be able to see the post by the person they have on ignore ........ but a weird situation happened with that. people were quoting the member that the original posted had on ignore, then the original poster would see the previously hidden post that they were ignoring, quoted in a different posters post... example say you put me on ignore so you cant see what I posted to you. then someone else comes along, quotes my post. you come on line and get slapped in the face unexpectedly by my post quoted in someone elses post, you throught you had me on ignore and there I am to remind you of your triggers.... not fun right. so the idea was thrown around on possible feature where those on ignore can not post in your threads. that way you dont accidentally get smacked with their post you dont want to see in your thread. Doc John found a way to do that and fix this problem. the ignore feature isnt perfect, like it doesnt always work with those using Tapatalk / taptalk but for most people it works. a person puts another on ignore and knows they are safe from seeing those on their ignore list posting in the original posters own threads. the ignore feature is for protecting yourself against your own triggers, not used against others. if someone has you on ignore its either because they are having a problem with their own triggers. if people on ignore lists could post in your threads after you put them on your ignore list that kind of defeats the purpose of having them on the ignore list. you end up getting triggered by someone else quoting them. Again public community wide threads are not supposed to be started by those that use the ignore list. for those that have an ignore list and want to make this kind of thread they have to send their thread idea to a moderator who will start the whole community participating thread like check in threads. those that find one from before the rule went into place or find a recent one that is for the whole community to participate in but cant notify (PM) a moderator and they will fix the problem. |

You should feel free to report it to the mods using the little triangle? Explain the situation, and they should restart the thread (close the old, open a new).

I was hurt and confused when someone put me on her ignore list. I feel like it would help to know why. If I say something offensive or triggering and no one tells me, I'll probably keep saying it.

Maybe you didn't say anything offensive or triggering. Placing someone on ignore is about the person doing the ignoring, not the ignored person.

I think I know why this certain person ignored me, and that's totally fine. just think we should all have access to the public threads is all |

To be honest, ignore is a big trigger for me, I only have people on ignore if they are ignoring me. If they take me off of ignore and I find out that I'm off of their ignore, they come off of my ignore.
I agree that people should have access to the check in threads though. |

Yeah I hate being ignored but for sure - public check in threads shouldn’t be started by someone who has members on ignored

And since that's actually a part of the guideline, a member needs to simply report a thread started by someone who has an ignore list, and that thread will be restarted by a moderator. Public check-in like threads are not allowed to be begun by members who have an active ignore list.
