The keyboard and mouse are both disabled on my desktop computer, thus I cannot even access the monitor now to get into the computer to trouble shoot.
Any ideas? I don't have any other keyboard/mouse to try... I'm sure it's a glitch within the cpu.

*Please note this is a non-technical reply ie. I know nothing about computers other than that it is very temperamental.* Switch off computer, and check everything is plugged in, then switch it back on again. (Works for me... ![]()

Do you have the original CD or recovery cd's? I have no idea if that would do anything, but it might be worth a try?

Are you using Windows XP?
I was going to suggest you try the On-Screen Keyboard but you'd still need your mouse. ![]() |

Can you plug the keyboard and mouse into the notebook to see if they're working?

That was a good idea, but doesn't work. The plug in area is for a projector it looks like
![]() It's the cpu I guess. It has 6 months left on the extended warranty, but I can't think of where I keep those things. ![]() I have 2 large binders of instruction manuals etc for everything I've bought... and many of those have the sales slips etc... but somehow they are out of place in the binders (can't imagine why this would be, as if the contractor would open the binder and take something??? ![]() Now I'm in a pain flare from moving the desktop and unplugging it and all... put my sacrum way out and it's impinging upon my right sciatic nerve. ![]() ![]() Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't know why the sellers of the warranty don't have it in their files (not until you use it?) ![]() ![]()

Hey _Sky...do you get an keyboard error when you bootup your desktop? Try taking the battery out...it's on the motherboard...leave it out for awhile...then put it back...this will reset your bios to factory settings...can you tell me what kind of computer you have?

The main problem is I don't get anything on the monitor, except that because it isn't accessed, it's in low power saving mode
![]() ![]() ![]() I have an HP 1006n cpu Pavilion.

When did the keyboard and mouse quit? Were you using the computer at the time? Did you turn it on and they just weren't working? Did one quit and then the other or were neither one working? Keyboard and mouse don't have anything in common so it's very odd they quit together. Did you recently install any new programs or hardware?

Nothing has worked since I first posted.
I had done a few updating right before it quit midstream.(Nothing earthshattering, Open Office update, and something similar I think.) I was observing my ebay sale ![]() The cpu, when turned on does access the keyboard and the monitor, as the monitor alerts with being on saving power mode. Now that I've unplugged everything, the monitor blocks across to check cable. ![]()
