I would like to request clarification, from admin, with regard to non-LGBTQ+ members posting in the LGBTQ+ forum. Back when the LGBTQ+ forum was the Transgender forum, it was my understanding that only trans members were allowed to post there (although I know there were cis-gendered members who did post there on occasion.) Now that the Transgender forum is the LGBTQ+ forum, my assumption is that it is for the exclusive use of members who consider themselves to fall with the LGBTQ+ "community" (I'll say for lack of a better term.) And, as such, non-LGBTQ+ members should not post there just as men are not allowed to post in the Women-Focused Support Forum, women are not allowed to post in the Men-Focused Support Forum, & adults are not allowed to post in the Teens' Lounge. Is this correct or am I misinformed? Thank you.

I would agree with this. Even though there is often the word "ally" in there; I think the intent is to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ to ask questions of those in similar situations. Those of us who are CIS-gendered and/or straight should be respectful of that space, just as I would want men to be respectful of not posting in the ladies forum.

Just my opinion.

Maybe there should be a sub-forum for Allies?

Anyone is allowed to post to any forum which doesn't have a specific exclusion about who may post to that forum in the forum's description. That means anyone is welcomed to post to the LGBTQ+ forum, but of course, just like all the forums, it is primarily meant for support for people who identify with the LGBTQ+ community. Unsupportive posts -- as they would in any of our forums -- will be removed.

I guess I wonder how that would be "enforced". Would everyone who posts be required to identify themselves by their orientation? What if you are uncomfortable doing that? I am married but have had bisexual experiences but I feel caught between saying I am Bi and being straight- I didnt even really want to have to say that but it was the only way I could think of to give and example of what I meant.

That's one of the reasons why we don't have such a requirement in order to post to that forum
