This is an announcement about the Psych Central Forums moving to their own domain.

We're doing this because the forums -- with their over 6 million posts -- may be negatively impacting our core domain and its ability to be indexed well in Google and other search engines.

You will notice very little difference, other than the new domain name.

As happened recently, you should know your user login name and password, as you will have to log back into your account once the change is completed. Also please make sure your email address is accurate and up-to-date on your profile here (in case you need to reset your password). (If you change your email address, you will need to confirm the new address by clicking on a link you will receive in email.)

This update is scheduled for the morning of Thursday, May 2, 2019.

There is nothing you need do. You will be automatically directed to the new site and domain (https://psychcentralforums.com/). If you save as a favorite or bookmark, you may want to update that favorite or bookmark after that date.

Best,
DocJohn

We're moving domains, that's all. Nothing else will be impacted. We won't know if any bugs arise until the move has been completed and we test all the functionality to ensure everything is working as intended.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

That requires knowing your password in order to reset it.

If you log out, you can click on the "Forgot password?" link on the login screen and it will email you a reset link to reset your password. We prefer you do it yourself if possible.

If all else fails, email our support address for additional help: community@psychcentral.com

The link community@psychcentral.com should take you to your email application (your "default" one if you use more than one) with a new message, addressed to community@psychcentral.com, ready to be written.

If you're already in an email application, you'd address the message to

community@psychcentral.com

not to

mailto:community@psychcentral.com

Was that the problem, or is there another one?
Thanks for this!

If you use Chrome, you can view saved passwords. Click the little user profile icon at the top right. It's just below the X you'd use to close the browser. Then click Passwords to open your password list. If you click the eye icon, you can view your password. You will be prompted to enter your Windows login password before it will show it to you.

I recently set up a forum for emotionally distressed people on proboards and that has given me a new perspective on what it takes. I'm amazed this site functions as well as it does and all the forums are ad free. That's a rarity in this world, or one has to pay a user fee, whereas pc is free and has no ads.

I'm not really sure what the business model that would keep the forums going long term would be. I once participated on a quit smoking forum that was attached to a commercial quit smoking site, but it just vanished from one day to the other. Of course, nothing last forever but I was wondering what is a business model that would keep the forums going as they are for the long term.

Thank you very much @DocJohn @FooZe for reminding me to check which e-mail I'm using for this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used two e-mail addresses because for a while one inbox wasn't working, and recently had issues with a site because of that. Thank you for making it easy to check in my profile so that this will go more smoothly!

Appreciate your work, and your prominent reminder so we can manage this better!!!
Hope that the transition goes smoothly, and that you have refreshments and chill vibes while carrying it out!

Is there a reason when I enter my login info it tells me "invalid redirect"? I went to top of screen n deleted off the "forums." so it only read as "psychcentral.com" (without treying to relog out again) .. and then clicked enter n it brought me here but still changed it so it reads as "forums.psychcentral.com" so I am a bit confused...

The only “difference” I have with the switch is -

I now get multiple ads all over the place on this site.

I was lucky - I never had a single ad in the past. I should clarify I’m in Australia.

What are the tracking pixels like on this site. I noticed the ads related to external sites I was browsing when I wasn’t even on PC but when I came back to PC it was advertising their product/service.

Edited to add it doesn’t matter if I’m on my iPhone XR or Mac. It’s the same result.

For me, using my mobile device, the change in domain is much easier to navigate. Almost enough to be able to consider not needing tapatalk.
