I get it too, something happened on another forum which made some of us feel more unwell. Thanks BirdDancer for bringing this up. I also see the other side of it though re my other post in this thread. (more rules and restrictions can feel punitive in some cases for some of us who genuinely try to be supportive.). I hope I haven’t said anything “wrong” I personally wouldn’t ever have thought of starting a personal journal thread in an open forum. (and much less carrying it on for pages) (no matter how many others there were).I understand the worry the situation could get out of “control” though. Given this particular type of forum, being a mental health forum, I think people need to be tolerant of each other's process and personal paths. Some people may need more of a journal like thread and may not think twice on it, and others may not like seeing those types of threads. To each their own, and I think we need to respect that we all have a different type of process, a different approach and different ways of processing our emotions. This is an open public forum, and tolerance and respect for one another should be in the forefront, I think, in all of our minds with regards to each other. I don't see too many of these types of threads around, only once in a while.

There are more of thesepersonal threads than is obvious,because sometimes people don’t name the thread by their screen name.
Having a separate section for them would help.

I will say that I don't tend to contribute to such "journal threads". Instead, I like my regular forum's "Check-in Thread", which is vibrant and pretty much serves the same purpose as any specific member's "journal thread".

I am only bringing this up, because I fear that if more and more people jump on the "My journal" thread bandwagon, that they will somewhat overwhelm certain groups main forums. If they are threads that people enjoy seeing, I really wish they were separated from a main forums's general thread list. Perhaps as part of a subforums called something like "Member Journals"?????

I hope this feedback/suggestion doesn't upset anyone. I'm only mentioning it because I see the issue from the perspective of someone who worked in marketing. Existing members may tire of such "journal threads" and any potential new members may see them and be turned off. Yes, right now, there are just a few I've noticed, but people do like jumping on such bandwagons, and then, before you know it, it's out of control. There are also other potential issues I could mention.

I understand your point. I am also not surprised that they are going to continue to be allowed (re: DocJohn's reply). What brings greater concern: the frequent thread from someone -- usually purporting to be a married woman -- whose spouse is doing something sexual to her that is either abhorrent or illegal, all written out in graphic detail -- and ending with, "but he's a great husband and father." Invariably posted in the "Relationship" forum. I get that many people here want to get their literary sexxy on, but sexually assaulting someone (even one's spouse) does not a great husband and father make and it is highly triggering for people to read--yet often there is no trigger warning and in my opinion, which I am allowed to have and I expect no grief for holding, this sort of stuff belongs on a sex forum, and here is why: because of the graphic detail, which seems to be the point of the thread.
