As a result of the sale of Psych Central to Healthline, PsychCentral forums will undergo some changes. Healthline has agreed to transfer the forums to Dr John Grohol to continue to run the forums independently and separate from Psych Central. This is largely a name/domain name change in order to become independent of Psych Central.

This means that...

- The name of the site (and its logo) will change to "My Support Forums"
- The domain of the site will change to mysupportforums.org
- The association with Psych Central will end
- We will institute new but similar terms of service and privacy policies
- The arcade, which relies on Flash technology that most modern web browsers no longer support due to security issues, will be shut down

Old quiz results will still be available in your account, but the ability to save new quiz results will no longer be possible

Nothing else about the community will change. You'll still have your same member account here, we'll still have the same moderators, and I'll still oversee things as I've done since 2001.

The only change most members will experience is the need to have to log back in once we've transferred the forums over to the new server. That means if you don't normally log in here (you stay logged in all the time), you should make sure you remember your password (or reset it now to something you'll remember).

The specific date for the change-over will be on Monday, December 21 at 12:30 pm ET. The old site will redirect to the new site automatically when it does happen.

Ooooh, we need to update our password..

Um, I have no idea what my password is any more. It's been a couple of forever since I created it. If it was ever written down the piece of paper is long gone. It's literally been years since I created the password.
Further complicating things, I no longer use the email account I had when I first registered here.

Help!!!! What do I need to do?

Thanks for the update, DocJohn. I'm wondering if there is anything you can tell us with regard to the future of Psych Central's archives. I see there are already changes that have been made in the articles, appearance-wise, if nothing more.

Chat will also move, yes, as it's an important part of our community.

Not sure about the archives; Healthline owns them now and can do with them as they please. It appears they've removed a whole bunch of articles. But it's likely in the service of trying to improve the site's search rankings for the most trafficked and read articles.

Use “forgot your password”, and then you’ll get something in your email for a reset

Thank you for telling us. it does seem like a bit short notice - Monday is 3 days away (I know that you talked about health line acquiring PC, but it was my understanding that it was up in the air exactly what would happen with pc forums, up until today, that is, when you posted this). But I imagine for the people who don't frequent PC daily, there will be a redirect to my support forums if they long in here instead? Again, though, thank you for the notification. I'm glad the forums will still be here, even with a new domain name.

Ideally, but if you don't remember your password you'll be led through the process of creating a new one. The tricky part is whether or not you have access to the email you used when you signed up for PC.

It's easy to recreate a new one - if you still have access to the email you used when you signed up for PC. If not, I'm not sure what to do - but there must be some way to reset a password.

So once this change occurs will psych central automatically redirect to the new
Forum name? Like do I have to put in the new forum name and log in and create a new bookmark or will it be automatic?

Yes, you will be automatically redirected to the new site.

If you need to change your password and no longer have access to your original email address, simply change your email address FIRST and confirm the change.

Then you can change your password by clicking on the "Forgot password" link. That link is available after you've logged out and try and log back in.

I went to look up my little red book to make sure I still have my password, yes I do. Hope everyone else manages the changeover ok. I am taking a guess here but if anyone is not able to continue within an old logon they might set up a new one with id from scratch.

I feel so stupid... I have forgotten my password that was almost 10 years ago and no longer use my original email.

I changed my email on my profile. I tried to enter a password that I use for numerous online stuff. It said my password is wrong, I didnt see anywhere to click " I forgot my password and I need a email to make the change..

Anyone? Thanks
