I’m a little confused by the 8 character when I am posting. This has happened quite a few times now. As you can see in the screenshot I am entering more than 8 characters and I am getting an error.

what 8 character thing? i never seen that?

Ginger, you should not have gotten the 8 char error for that post.

Willow, the site says any post must be 8 chars or more. So ginger padded out her response of bed with periods.

Some sort of glitch, seemingly associated with just the older themes maybe? We don't actively support those themes any longer, they're mostly there just for older members who were used to using one of them.

I've never seen the 8 character thing but have seen "Your message is too short." Like I can't just post an emoji to someone's visitor page for example. Maybe it had a character number but I haven't seen it in a long time now so can't remember if it said that.

I've been using the teal and black theme forever, since I joined. I thought of mixing it up sometimes, but I'm afraid it will mess up something. "If it ain't broke don't fix it." Also, I don't like change in general and if I don't HAVE to change anything I don't. The last 2 years or so have had ENOUGH change with COVID.

I need stability whenever I can get it, even if's just looking at the same color scheme since 2008.

And I don't see any ads; I never did.

Usually happens in the game section. I am just posting more characters now.

To encourage actual discussion, rather than one word (or one emoji) replies.... Because this is meant to be a discussion-oriented support community.

I know in some of our forums, like Games, it doesn't make as much sense... but it's a site-wide setting, so I can't change it just for the handful of forums where it's an issue.

Visitor messages might be different. I posted just an emoji to someone and it didn't give me an error about not enough characters.
