Occasionally I am prompted to download the TapaTalk app when I visit this website. What are the benefits of using the app? Is it useful for people who participate in many forum/discussion websites? So far I only participate in MSF. But maybe the app provides a better mobile experience?

Some people prefer it for the mobile experience, but it also has ads. The only way to see if it's right for you is to download the app and try it out.

I installed it back in 2021 when I hadn’t gotten the hang of using a smart phone to get online period, this site or not. I wanted to get on here and not depend on going to the library anymore. It’s more user friendly on a small screen……BUT:

It’s very slow to load and maybe it’s because of all the ads. Many are animated or they play loud music or sounds with them. There’s an ad free version but of course you have to pay. Some ads cover the entire screen.

You can do only forums and pm’s. If anyone posts a visitor message to you or sends a friend request you won’t see them. No notification either. There’s no hug button, just thanks and you can’t see the member names who thanked the poster, just the number of thanks received. Also the ignore feature doesn’t work on there.

They tout over 200,000 forums but I’ve never tried any of them.

I use it just occasionally now if I have a strong signal and feel up to it, it does display better on a tiny screen. Otherwise I have to zoom in on the page.

Hope this helps you.

It does help, No Night Owl and Doc John! I have considered the pros and cons and will stay put. No changes for now. Thank you for the input; it saved me time spent on trial and error.

And after all that, I forgot to say you have to create another log in for Tapatalk itself. Then you log in with your same username and password for MSF. I stay signed in to Tapatalk, it’s more convenient. If you do other forums, they will appear along with MSF on your home page.

Some ads won’t let you close them until they run their course, usually a few seconds but it feels like forever.

For me Tapatalk seems to use less data than the browser. The browser uses a lot, a lot of battery too.

That’s all I can think of now. I think that’s it for my 2 cents.

I used it but don’t see much difference. I use msf on my phone regardless. Just in a browser versus on the app if you use tapatalk

Tapatalk used to not accept ignore feature. So people can still post and contact you even if you put them on ignore
