Today several times I have tried to type messages, and MSF will just randomly completely freeze. I can do nothing with it but close the tab, open a new MSF tab and start typing again. I keep losing my posts; this is frustrating. I have re-started my computer, still having the problem and I am not having issues with any other sites. I am using Google Chrome.

Any idea what's going on?

I know very little about Google Chrome. I remember trying it briefly, years ago, and missing the Firefox features that I was used to. Do you have access to a different browser to see if the problem shows up there, too?

I'll try Firefox tomorrow and see. I don't use it often. I'll try it tomorrow if it's still happening on Chrome then.

Things seem to be working fine for me today on Chrome so far. Hopefully, the problem is gone. I really don't care much for using Firefox.

I don't know if this is related, but yesterday I kept getting a message saying "This page is not responsive". I could either wait or exit. This was on any thread or forum, or the reply box. So no particular task I was doing.

So far today, nothing is going wrong. But yesterday I had to close the window and re-open it. I said "Remember me" so I wouldn't have to log in again.

This is on Chrome. It's a Chromebook from the library. It's the only browser available on it, and patrons aren't "authorized" to install other browsers since the library manages it.

I have Safari on my phone but I'm using this to give my phone and its battery a rest. So I don't know if Safari would do that.

Someone I know swears by Firefox. Personally I don't see a difference between browsers, maybe it depends on what one is doing. There's a browser called Vivaldi, which I never heard of until a member mentioned it somewhere. And I read about one called Opera, odd name for a browser.

I am having this problem again today on Google Chrome.

It may be related to a specific misbehaving advertisement displaying, that we can get removed from our website. I just need to know what ad is displaying on your screen when this happens...

The other possibility that's been causing us problems as of late are AI crawlers or bots -- software AI makers use that crawl the web in order to help train their AI. Unlike search engine crawlers, many of the AI ones are not friendly to obeying the standards for polite crawling of websites and instead try and request every page the site has in in as little time as possible. This can result in hundreds of requests per second, which our server simply can't handle.

They come and go and we've put into place safeguards to try and prevent these bots from harming our site. But with so many of them now working, it can result in problems for us sometimes. This may also be the cause of the occasional freeze-ups.

Today a Remitly ad, something like that was playing and it froze up. I'll keep a lookout if it happens during other ads.
