I'm noticing that some people's profiles show what appears to be a birthday in the "Chat Room Avatar" field. It might be that the people I've noticed accidentally typed their birthdays into the wrong field, but is it possible that it was caused by the upgrade?

Nevertheless, I would encourage everyone to check their own profiles and make sure that their entire birthday is not on public display. Month and day, maybe, but in this day and age of identity theft, I think it's a bad idea to post your entire birthday.

Ok this is a new problem. When I come on it no longer shows me what messages are new. They use to be red...now they are nothing. What happened?

Messages are determined whether they're new or not based upon when you login and view any single forum. When you view a forum, you reset your "new" counter for the entire forum (the programmers thought it would be too difficult for the forum to track each and every thread you have or haven't read).

So basically that's how it works and there's no real work around or fix to the problem. You just have to note what threads you haven't read in a forum when you're in it the first time if you don't have time to catch up with all of them at the same time.

Hello DocJohn, hope you are having a good day.

I have noticed that clicking on the number of new posts on a thread does nothing now. It sure was nice not having to go through all the old posts to get to the new... the numbers are still there, but don't do anything for me.

The same functionality should be available to you by just clicking on the main thread title itself. That should automatically take you to the first unread post in the thread.

Gee, has it really been a month already, and nothing crashed? (At least DocJohn didn't tell us if it did! )

DocJohn, at least 3 times lately, once I insert a color coding (like: color: blue ) it deletes the text I am trying to color. I use my "back" button to redo it (with brackets, yes) but just thought you'd wanna know... and let me know if it 's something I'm doing without realizing it! (like, read my mind, see into the past and view it... lol)

Oh, another thing: I view the right side note of the last post and who etc but sometimes when I click on the left side forum line, and go into that forum... the post doesn't show. I double checked my "Show posts in last.... week" (usually where I have it) and then double check the date of the right sided note of latest post... and it's always within the parameters!

If I click on the right side latest post view... then it takes me to the post.

I realized this mainly because in a forum there weren't ANY posts listed... so I didn't get sidetracked and forget I went there to read the "latest" post! lol...

okay now I've been trying to bold and color text and the preview isn't showing me that it is doing either... took the color out but it should at least bold. (Shouldn't we also be able to bold color ?)

Hey wait a minute! How did that get posted to a reply by Lady Dragus???

while I'm here, let me try the bold color thing again.

[color:"purple"]Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

Okay that worked in regular "reply" mode so I guess markup doesn't work in the "edit" mode?

oh, and I noticed in chat tonight that trying to pull in the avatar/icons from the Profile listing doesn't work... some of the in chat icons must have duplicate numbers... so maybe they need their own icon numbers somehow that fit both places... the icons I got weren't the ones I wanted. //73

Oh, yeah, about using colors: When I use the Preview Post option, the colors don't show, only the coding. And sometimes the coding shows in the posted message, instead of the color. Then, I usually delete the post, and start all over again with no colors. I thought I was doing something wrong, but after reading this thread, I'm not sure. I'll have to try a color and the Preview Post option again soon.

Yeah, I don't know why you're having troubles with the color option... I just went and did all sorts of combinations, using both regular reply and Quick reply and every single one of my tests came out okay. Dunno what's going on there.

Do make sure you have "UBB Code" enabled as an option when posting (it's the default, but maybe it's not defaulting correctly for you...??).

You should just put the number (no slashes) in your profile.

If you're putting just the number and still not seeing it, let me know the specific numbers or icons you're having troubles with, thanks!

Did you put the quotes around the color word, purple? UBBCode doesn't use quotes, so try it again without using quotes....

Also, make sure that the option:

Make post using HTML and UBBCode

is chosen when posting the regular way (not with the quick reply function).

Oh I was talking about IN CHAT [color:"blue"] the directions state you can use the AVATAR (from the MY PROFILE in CHAT room) and put them into the chat line by using the // with the number and then a space.

In the AVATAR listings... #48 is a donkey but in the chat icon smilie #48 is a musical note.

Try # 82 and you get nothing. with or without the //
