Probably a stupid question with a very obvious answer- But if you're thinking about changing your username (which I believe is permitted) how can you check to make sure the one you're thinking of is not already taken?

Ledgewood ( I like your name btw!) You have to PM DocJohn with the request for change. Include a few names you would take, and he will give you the first one available! Usernames He's good like that!

Sky's way is best but I've typed in the wrong nick before logging in and only been told "wrong password" for that nick or else it says "name/password not found". You could type in the nick you want and any password and it might say "wrong" password which would say the nick already exists?

another way is to use the search toolbar up top. Select advanced search, then when it comes up you should see an option to search by author.

Simply enter the name and see if that name has ever vbeen used to post?

of course, now that i think of this, this wouldnt work if the person had never posted. Usernames

To put in a request for a name change, go to your profile and the request is there.

You put in the request and choose the name you'd like to have, and if it's taken it will tell you and you'll have to choose another.

From there, the request goes to the administration and we approve it.

That's no fun, KD, that sounds perfectly logical and well thought out!

Ok, thanks everyone. After a request has been put in, how long does it take to process?
