Hey gang maybe someone has an idea for me about this? I received my notebook back from the tech and now when it boots for internet, the ISP works but the notebook cannot find the server...and won't let me view pages.

I figured it was a setting somewhere that the tech forgot to switch back after using a proxy to control/fix my notebook... but dang if I can find it. I have to go into the internet connections each and every time before I can view any pages... I've done this through tools, toolbox and control panel setting areas... it is always on proxy settings and I reset and APPLY the changes back to automatically detect settings.

I found that I have 2 spyware programs (I have no idea why) and I also found that they have settings similar... and might have been preventing me from viewing... but I found and changed them... still my notebook refuses to retain the automatic detect settings mode.

I am in communication with another tech who is dumbfounded. NO WAY do I wish to send this back for who knows how long to get this fixed.... but it has to be an easy fix... I'm just not looking in the right place!

I also installed Motorola Mobile Phone Tools to be able to use my wireless phone for internet access when a land line nor router is available. It accesses my phone (lights it up) but is unable to dial. This is a problem after the above, but I'm thinking if I can figure the above out, this might work itself out too?

I'm brain dead with all the hurricanes and evacuation and all... so go ahead, insult me with your intelligence and tell me where the problem is LOL

bummer.

my problem (which I knew wasn't site related)... is a biggie.
It turns out that the mother board is bad (bad mother board, bad, bad!) It's the third one it's had. When I type in the Run: regsvr32 softtub.dll there is NONE, can't find it... so I wipe the hard drive again and then re install all the drivers... and? same thing: can't find the library for the server! garbage.

So with that said, I like the changes on the site here: extra icons and spell check. And I will wait to see if I can get the spell check on posts to work right for me after I get my notebook fixed... for real this time?

Gee, just look at all I'm learning about troubleshooting! Server/ page errors NOT site connected
