I'm new and have been primarily just reading around. When I come into a forum all the topics with new posts are at the top. When I click any of them it takes me to the first unread post. Is there a way to NOT go to the unread items but go directly to the first post? It's not a big deal to scroll back up to the top, but if there is a secret way to not have to that would be awesome.

Hey, Xando, welcome to PsychCentral. You can "Edit Display" in your "My Profile" (upper right of your screen), last tab and set things up to show up in various combinations you might like better.

Just click on page 1 of the thread you want to read.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a display option that would do what I'm asking about and clicking on the page 1 only works for topics with more than one page. Again, not a big deal, I'll live. Thanks again! |

When I log on and go to a thread, the page seems to jump to a random place in the thread -- at least I cannot tell where it goes. Sometimes to the first message in a thread, sometimes elsewhere. I wish it would go to the last message I have read already or first unread.

Yeah, that's what it's doing for me. Going to the first unread. I does bounce around a lot while the page is still loading though.

Oh yeah, when it begins to load, it does go to the first post..first.

I find -- I'm guessing -- that it goes to the first post that has been made since I was on that particular forum, even if I never looked at the particular thread at all.

I've found that if you are reading without logging in, it takes you to the top of the post, to the initial post in the thread. You don't get the counter that tells you the number of new replies since you last viewed the thread though.
