1) What does "automatically parse links in text" mean when creating a new PM? I don't know if I want that if I don't know what it means!
2) What does "disable smiles" mean? Would that mean a :-) will stay a :-) and not convert to a smiley? 3) Also, I got a "friendship request" but did not see anybody new appear in my contact & friends window nor an "accept" button, as mentioned in the FAQ's. I'm happy someone wants to be my friend. But who is it????? HELP! ![]()

1. Means the software will automatically find any links you may have put in your message and turn them into something that a person can click on. If you don't check this, the links will looks like just plain text and be unclickable.
2. Means exactly that -- smiley text will not be converted to its graphical representation. 3. Friendship requests usually show up as a new Notification, in the area that new private messages show up in the upper-right hand corner of every page (below the search box and the 2 navigation bars). If you miss it there, you should also find the new request at the bottom of your Friends & Contacts list (scroll down). DocJohn

And now, WHAT is a vCard? I Googled it, and it was not explained in simple English but in technobabble speak. Some of us are not so "tech savvy"! Once again, it's an option I don't know if I want on unless I understand what it does. Also please explain the 2 formats of XML or CRV (I think it's CRV). Text is self-explanatory.

vCard is, I think, something Microsoft Outlook uses to save contact information in its address book. I don't use outlook, so I ignore that.
XML and CSV are two types of file formats. I think most people will find CSV easier to use (stands for "comma separated values"). A CSV file can be easily read by a program like Microsoft Excel or any spreadsheet program so you can view, sort and better manipulate your PMs. The biggest drawback to vBulletin (the forum software) is that its PM system is a few years behind what an ordinary person might expect from an email system. I hope they continue to improve it in future versions.....
