last week apple released their new update to their own implementation of java for leopard 10.5.5.
since then, i and many other mac users have been suffering from some sort of page load failures very often with stuff like the chat feature here and a lot of php based forae.
i don't know when i can sucessfully login again. if you don't hear from me don't worry about it--it's not my depression acting up.
we'll see when apple gets this resolved.
bye,
pi

MacFixit might be the place to go to see if Apple has a fix. But you probably already know this. In the meantime you can turn Java off in your browser.

i found a way to fix the problem on my own ( i was really lucky to do this ) by rebuilding my permissions and rebuilding databases like spotlight. i took a real kitchen sink approach to the problem.
i post at macfixit, pachy, but they were no help because they kept refering me to an article in macfixitpro service by it's url and no precis. I guess macfixit wanted 25 bucks to tell me what to do. i would have paid it too, if i knew whether there was a working solution detailed for my problem-- not just an url heading.
any way turning off java wouldn't allow me to post to or load bulletin boards like this one because they use javascripts.
thanks for the advice tho.

Java and Javascript are two entirely different things. I turn Java on in my browser only to go into Chat here; otherwise it is not needed.
