i very much dislike the new psych central setup. if i leave this internet window open without doing anythign for a period of time it always asks me to relogin. i can be relogging in up to 10 times a night/day. i could always just click on "remember me" so it saves cookies to my computer but i have chosen not to do that cuz my cookies delete themselves something like once a week anyway. there are a few other things i hate about the new setup that i cant remember right off hand lol so ill B**** about them later when i remmeber what they are

It is definitely worth ticking the 'Remember me' box, then you won't have to keep logging in.

I think once you get used to the new set up here, you will prefer it.

(((((pegs))))) we always click the "remember me" box, but we still get signed out every 15 minutes, & then we get a message that says "all cookies have been cleared"

what are we doing wrong ?

There are some weird things that happen to me on this new PC than the old one, and it is related to signing off. It sometimes won't let me log off. The dialog box goes away before I can click yes or no. I have to click "log out" a half a dozen times! LOL

When I exit chat, if I click on certain (seemingly random) links, it will log me out!

One thing that happens sometimes is when I click on the "My Profile" link in the upper left corner...not only will PC shut down but the whole IE window closes!

I do like some new features, like the member created social groups, and the more emoticons available as I find those fun.

There are still things I miss about the old system, like the "Find others like me" link (which is why I like the social groups idea) and the "Post reminders" icon. But I'm not good with change anyway.

I don't have any of those problems. It could well be your Internet settings, Ladies. Check them out.

you have to change your computer settings on the cookies so they don't delete until you delete them.

Two things to try if you're using Internet Explorer...

1. Hold down the CTRL key while pressing the login button.

2. Delete your temporary Internet files. Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Browsing History > Delete > Temporary Internet Files

We're looking to add back in "Find Others Like Me" shortly...

PS - In the meantime, to find others like you (based upon what you entered as your primary, secondary or tertiary problem), go here:

http://forums.psychcentral.com/memberlist.php?do=search

and choose from the appropriate list. You can then sort by last login time to find active versus non-active members. Not everyone fills this field out, but for those who do, it's a quick and easy method for now...

For those of you out there that don't have YOUR own computer settings to mess with and are sometimes using a public PC (I know I can't be the only one out of hundreds of people that, gasp!!!! doesn't have one at home), I"ve found that you cannot view, let alone change, these Internet settings/options. You're stuck with whatever security settings they have. Same with the speed of the connection, etc.

For some reason, the city libraries NEVER give me problems, on ANY site. Same with my boyfriend's home PC. County libraries are a problem not with just PC but other sites.

So, for others that may be in this situation, I limit PC activity to simple things, like posting to a thread, or viewing threads. Save more complicated, time consuming things like writing a PM, customizing your profile, or doing an advanced search for a computer you KNOW works right!

Just wanted to pass on my tips to those who may be using a computer at an Internet cafe, library, etc...

I know I never want a public computer to "remember me", so I never check that box, on ANY site, on ANY computer I use, just to make it "second nature" to me. Since I usually use a public computer, I'm in the habit of never having it remember me. My computer wiz boyfriend said that filters or security settings on public computers can cause the problems I have with certain links on here or on other sites as well...
