Recently a thread was opened up in the Spiritual Support section about reincarnation. The very thought of spiritual discussion seemed to raise a lot of hackles, and I know that normally that sort of stuff isn't allowed in there.

The question I have is this: is it really so destructive to have a forum where we can discuss individual spiritual beliefs? Recently a thread got going in the Depression or Anxiety board (sorry, can't remember which one) about these topics, and I think all of us that were involved in it found it very beneficial and moving to have an honest, open discussion about these things.

Perhaps such a forum would be too difficult to moderate. If so, I find it sad that a site designed for people to support each other would be taken over by dogmatic infighting (and I know that there are dogmatic atheists out there, by the way). I just think that, as people suffering from various mental illnesses, we all have unique and insightful perspectives on such matters, and few outlets in the "outside world" where we can share them. It would be nice if we could do so here.

I'm with you, digdug. I think that we do need to be able to talk about our beliefs. Anyone who agrees, and wants to talk about beliefs and can respect others' beliefs that may be different, is more than welcome to join us on the All Faiths social group. You can request to join, or if you PM me I can send you an invitation.

digdug, I appreciate your thoughts on this subject. I suggest to you that you do some back reading and searches regarding the Spirituality forum and the changes that were made earlier this year to get a better understanding of why the Spirituality forum is as it is now.

Thank you Rapunzel for offering the All Faiths Social Group to digdug. I do hope that area will be helpful to you digdug.

Thanks for the info, Rapunzel and sabby, and thanks again Rapunzel for the invite. I don't much about how the social groups work, but I guess I'll find out now.

I will go back and look at the Spirituality forum, for the sake of curiosity.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
