I keep trying to change my avatar, but every time I do it distorts my picture. The one I'm trying to put on is portrait style (shorter width, longer length), but it squishes it up into a square. if you click on my profile page it shows it correctly, but on the boards it gets squished... what's going on? Could anyone give me an idea of how to fix it?

All avatars are put into 85 px x 85 px dimensions. If your avatar isn't already in these dimensions, it will resize it to them automatically.

seems like you'll need to crop it to be a square, then it won't be distorted?

Maybe you could add a bit of white or bland color to the sides before re-uploading so that it would be square?
