If you go to the "Private Messages" link under where it says "welcome, lizardlady" (on the upper right corner of this screen where the moods are),it will take you to another page. There are menus going down the left side of that page....I think one of the choice is "send new message" - and that's how you send one.

Hope this helps! Maybe someone smart who can do screen shots will show you
