I read the community guidelines. I poked around in the rules and admin forum and the tech/feedback forum. I can't figure out if it's OK to cuss in posts. I saw the rule against posting anything obsene (sp?). I'm talking about using cursing in posts, not over the top nastiness, just plain old everyday cussing. I don't want to do something against the rules, but there are times I need to cuss in order to vent. Is it OK?

lots of times when people are angry and want to cuss they put part of the word and symbols for the rest of the word. people get the hint and you get to vent.

hang in there,

if you go by the guidelines you won't get in trouble. using *** is not real cool although alot of people do it as a way of getting around filters. we do ask that you use respect for other members. thanks

The general rule of thumb:

If it's caught by the "filter" (which will automatically substitute symbols whenever someone uses a "nasty word") then you can feel free to say it in your post ... because nobody else will be insulted because they'll only see the symbols. Do *not* try to circumvent the filter by putting spaces or periods or anything else.

Try to be polite, if you think you're going to swear a lot and whatnot - and if its not caught by the filter - then just add a warning to people beforehand, because lots of people don't like bad language.

Admin/moderators will edit your post if its over the top, but if you ever have a question about something you've said in a post - you can PM one of us and we'll take a look before you post it for everyone to see!

Hope that helps some.

Thank you to everyone for responding. When I'm REALLY upset I can swear like a sailor. I wasn't aware there was a filter on the site. I'll rein myself in when I post. If I have a question about saying something specific I'll ask one of the moderators.
