can i change my name here, and when i do, will all my old posts say my new name?
cuz im worried people in real life will run a search of the cottoncandylocks ID which i have used for 10 years and have used it all over the web & in real life...
and how will everyone here know it's still me just with a new name?

from what i have seen on here... once your name is changed, all your posts you have ever written take on your new name, unless for example you had included your screen name in your sig in which case it would have your old name, but the post would still be under your new name. if that makes any sense. and i guess the only way people would know who you were was if you put in your sig (formerly cottoncandylocks) or signed your posts saying who you used to be...

i don't know that the name will change and post with all old posts. however, i do know that if it does and you change your signature as well, that the signauture will change with the old ones as well. so you should be able to be pretty well hidden if new name changes with old posts (which i suspects it does) because signature and avatar changes with old ones.

as far as letting ppl know it's you...post a post to the members here is the only way i can think of.

I changed my name when I first came here. Everything goes to your "new name". All ya hafta do is ask Doc John and wait for him to have time to do it. He's really great about it.

BUT the problem of searches will be the same, with regards to the site, as you will still log in under the OLD name.

You're right, I still log in under the old name. But it doesn't show up anywhere else on this site. I could search for my old screen name, but it is so popular I would have HUNDREDS or search returns to sort through.

I searched for your old name and it only came up twice. I would think with all your posts more responses would come up.

I don't know. Doc John probably will.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
