My family doesn't - but then again they caused it! I have told one or two friends. That's it. And they don't really know much about it. I want to tell my sister, but that would involve bringing up family stuff with her that I'm not ready to deal with.
Have you told your family? Your friends? How did they respond? |

my sister minimizes it. she has the pull yourself up by the bootstraps mentality. my dad knows cause he is the one who caused it and i wrote him a big letter disowning him for the abuse. my coworkers know because there was a good couple years at work where i was really unstable and i wanted them to know there was an explanation for it. they are very supportive. i am really fortunate to have such caring and understanding coworkers. i just had a major trigger at work last week and everyone stepped up to the plate to support me and covered my shift so i could go home and take care of myself.

My daughter and my husband know. Unfortunatly they both added to it since they would both fly into unexpected rages. My husband is better now, but doesn't understand that HE caused so much damage. He blames my mother and ex. They did too, but I've been with him longer than I was with them. I think a part of him thinks I'm making it up too, even though I have a diagnosis. My daughter understands the whole thing and has it too.

My family and other people in my life have caused it and telling any of them would just make things worse on me, I think. I don't really have IRL friends because I tend to isolate and trusting people is a huge issue for me.
