Do you remember if this module sparked more emotional talking? Just wondering if this has something to do with the topic.

Interpersonal effectiveness? More emotional talking?

None of your care sounds adequate to me.

Well....sadly is all the VA offers. Again, another reason for citizens to help vets fight for better health care. I don't think most people know just how bad it is until you get involved with it. I'm a vet and I didn't know. But you would think with the vet suicide rate at 22 a day, it would get someone's attention.

No? I think maybe this was sparking flash backs with other about talking with aggressors about what you want and need. Maybe that was it, I don't know. It sure sent me skipping down the flashback path.

For me it was emotional regulation that got me going. Interpersonal effectiveness is easy for me, I have excellent "people skills".

I am reactive and sensitive, that is my challenge.
Thanks for this!

Well just goes to show how different it can be for each person. Personally I'm glad someone else is talking, keeps me from having to, but then again some topics are triggering. A double edged sword.
I had good people skills and was very much a people person, now not so much. I talk to people more on the computer than on the phone or in person. Not the best situation, but could be worse. Ya know?

I get it and today has been a big lesson in 1) how different people with PTSD are from not only the rest of the general population but even people with different mental illnesses 2) continuing to learn not to trust people at face value, or until they prove themselves 3) there are some things I do not know.

I don't have a problem with talking to people, what I have a problem with is how I react to people, I'm highly emotionally sensitive, which is probably how I ended up with PTSD in the first place.

True benefit to being numb to life. It just doesn't matter anymore.

But then you miss out on the good stuff too, the happy moments, the caring moments. Balance is the answer, but hard to find that when you are so far down the well that light is not even visible.

Yes and my partner called me when he saw my post because he was concerned . I want to turn down the volume on my feelings. I've had a lot of traumatic experiences in the last 24 hours . I'm just trying to chop wood carry water. I'll take my second round of supplements , drink water, wash dishes, do laundry, exercise and carry on. Thank you.

I think I'm going to drop out of the DBT class. It's just too much for me right now, not the right time I don't think. I didn't think there had to be a right time, but it seems there is for learning this type of stuff.

Thanks, maybe I can take it again later when my head is clearer and some of the past traumas have been placed away again. At this point it's just too hard to focus on the class without being triggered by the other people or something being taught.

I totally understand. It took me two tries before I could get going. I got triggered by the people in it as well. It takes what it takes. I'm glad you are here.

So you think I should stop them for a while?
