Against my better judgement I accepted a role on the Home Owners Association Board. We have had some real problems with the prior board not being transparent about the money and jobs that were being done. Tonight we had an annual meeting after only a few months of having the HOA. We had to explain to the home owners what we have found and it was not good. So we were all a basket of nerves getting this ready. I couldn't even do my PE therapy because my head was so consumed with this and my friends family situation. But now it feels like a brick has been lifted from my shoulders. We still have a tough road ahead but at least now the home owners know what we are dealing with.

It was so hard but it went very well. The other board members had it planned out so well , it was a very profession presentation. Some of the home owners got out of hand a little bit but their frustration is justified.
We still have a lot of work ahead of us, no telling how much money is unaccounted for.

I was on my HOA's board once. Never again. I probably wouldn't get on the board now considering the run-ins I've had with them.

They had to have police at my community's HOA meetings. One guy antagonizing and bullying the board. He did a whole series of YouTube videos blasting them, got hold of all the resident's emails and sent aggressive blasts. I'm not sure if it was he who had crooked motives, or if the board was up to no good.

HOA's do suck and are governed by strict laws. Our board is an all volunteer board. Our prior board left us in such a mess we can't get the 2014 and 2015 audits done , that THEY should have done, because of lack of documentation of money spent. Plus one prior board member just has it out for this one home owner and is doing everything in their power to make his life miserable. Sad.

Amazing how that happens They are in the wrong but get mad at your for catching them . We don't know if any money was stolen or not, looks more like someone in control of our checkbook that never should have been. I swear I think a 5 year old could have done a better job. I will never live in a place with an HOA again.

Maybe you don't want to do that great a job in figuring out what the previous board did. Best to just move on.

There was so much triggering about the meeting the people yelling, so many people in one space, one man said he was going call animal control to pick up neighborhood cats because he dogs lashes out at them when they are walking him, it was heart breaking this man would think about doing that to someone's pet just because his wife can't control his dog. So I was mentally in and out a lot.

Well you can't keep everyone happy, there's always a few that like to keep rumors flowing and cause problems. I saw something on FB the other day, it said "If you stir the S___ pot , then you should have to lick the spoon"
